This piece draws inspiration from Zakia's collaborative work with Soil Generation and their forthcoming publication, Soul ReIntegration: An Artistic Self Exploration & Healing Journey Curriculum Guidebook. Zakia spent a year meditating on Prompt #3, “Resentment Remediation,” undergoing an intentional journey of reconnecting to her spiritual practices and training in energy work. During this time, Zakia recalled a similar period of her life in which she traversed the liminal space of becoming and was gifted permission, catharsis, and solace from the Earth and all of her elements. Offerings I represents a memory of purging in community on the Land of Peace in Ghana in 2021. Ritual requires reciprocity with Spirit, and so Offerings I leaves instruction to the viewer of the sacred exchange between the Fire, the Land, and the Spirit in intuitive somatic energy healing.
