Soul ReIntegration Series: Resentment Remediation

Anima Mundi: A ReIntegration

24” diameter

Oil and acrylic on raw cotton canvas; mounted to cradled wood

2025

This piece draws inspiration from Zakia's collaborative work with Soil Generation and their forthcoming publication, Soul ReIntegration: An Artistic Self Exploration & Healing Journey Curriculum Guidebook. Zakia spent a year meditating on Prompt #3, “Resentment Remediation,” undergoing an intentional journey of reconnecting to her spiritual practices and training in energy work. Anima Mundi: A ReIntegration represents the end (and beginning) of the cycle of human suffering - a ‘rememory’, as Toni Morrison described the ‘pitched battle between remembering and forgetting.’ Anima Mundi, which translates from Latin to mean “The Soul of the World” refers to the living spirit existing in all of nature–that the world itself and all of its elements are simultaneously alive and deeply connected and inseparable from humanity. This rememory is the spark of life, as represented by the birth of a star, that is triggered through Zakia’s integration of shadow work, radical acceptance, and interconnection with the Self, Land, and Universe.
